Out for the count.

After Wednesday's ride in the rain, something was just not feeling right. Once I took the 'dale off the truck Wednesday night in the garage, I found the culpit. Broken spoke # 6 for the season, and the season only started in Late April. I had engagements for Thursday night, so fixing the spoke was out of the question. This left me driving Friday. Man, what a beautiful day to be on a bike. Sure did miss it.

On to today, went to the bike shop to check on a couple of things. First I needed to pick up some new brake pads, as mine are as close to shot as I want to get. And second, I wanted to get the mech's advice on the rear rim. Well the verdict, replace all of the spokes, and while you are at it the hub could use a good once over. Or just replace the entire wheel. I opted for the latter as it would be cheaper (and better) in the long run. Well now I have a new rear wheel, and am ready for the ride to Church in the morning. Life is good.

On a side note, this does bring into question the purchasing of studded snow tires. It is looking like this may have to wait until late Nov. or early Dec. Hope the weather holds till then. Now what should I do with the old rim....

Later,
SJ
