A day surprises.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday morning when it was not raining. I had expected to be soaked and cold upon reaching work. However, I was neither. With a tail wind, I actually made excellent time getting to work. The new rear wheel worked splendidly. I really did not expect such a difference in handling.

Another surprise occurred after crossing of Conser Drive, I ran off the trail. With the amount of leaf litter covering the path, I misjudged where the trail sides were. This section of trail has a nice curvy section just prior to a sharp climb. I managed to salvage a little speed, but still crawled up the hill. Then 3/4 of the way up the hill, I meet a walker with a light. Definitely not expecting to meet anyone with the temps in the 50's and rain emminate. The rest of the ride to work was without incident.

For the ride back to the truck, I had to alter my route in a couple of spots. I jumped on to 103rd at Marty, circumventing the flooded underpasses at Marty, 103rd, Metcalf, and again at 103rd. I then jumped back on the trail on the south side of 103rd. I was shocked at how swollen the Indian creek was at the 435 underpass, thus leading to the change in route. I was able to use the trail all the way to Walt's Mill plaza. The underpass here was flooded. Knowing that this would also mean the trail would be under water at various places between here and Wornal, I elected to fight traffic and take 103rd to Wornal. Here I picked up my nornal route of back roads to Red Bridge.
