Nice change of weather

This morning was a nice change from Monday, and Wednesday's commute. Both mornings were below 30 when I started out. This morning it was over 50. This means that I had no need for the fleece jacket, or the winter gloves. I felt nice not being bundled up. I did question my selection of clothing, a cycling shirt under a sweat shirt, biking short under track pants. I was cool starting out, but this is how you want to be when you start out. By the time I was 2 miles into the ride, I hardly noticed any discomfort due to the weather.

Ever since we received rain last week, the under pass at Wornall has been covered with about a two inch bed of mud and muck. I've mentioned before that this section of the trail floods at the treat of rain. Usually the city clears it a couple of days later. However with the closing of the "normal" recreation season, this has not been the case. In the morning, I can avoid the underpass by cutting through the QT parking lot, and jumping on the trail there. In the evening, I dismount and use the retaining wall to cross the nasty section. Now I could ride through the muck, but I just choose to keep the bike as clean an possible.

Other noteworth tidbits, work progresses on the section west of Mission road. There are forms up for the new sidewalk, and I belive there may even be some concrete poured for the replacement trail. If all goes well, they should be done next week, and i can cut out the slog up College.

For the past couple of morning rides, I've meet two individuals out walking dogs at Roe Park. And it usually occures when I am either turning a corner, or on a switch back. Startles the heck out you to hear voices all of a sudden, then see people with dogs on retractable cloths lines (leashes).

Other than that It's been a good week. Till next time.
