Doughnuts, Coffee, and other cyclist.

This morning was a great morning to bike. Though it did not look to start out that way. I pulled away from home in the truck just a couple minutes before 5:30 am. The sky looked like a soaked sponge ready to let loose of it's and pour. And a mile from Homes Road, that is just what happened.

Driving from the Homes Exit to my parking spot at Red Bridge the rain slowly relented. And the nice surprise was, when I got to my parking space, the rain had all but stopped. I had dressed expecting to be riding in the rain so, I loaded the bike and put on the rain covers.

I have been noticing that traffic is heavier this year that last year. Not sure if it is due to the lower gas prices or it could be that I am meeting students making their way to class. Either way, I do hope this trend reverses it's self.

As I noted in yesterday's post, the bridge underpasses were a mess. Good thing I am running full fenders, other wise I would look like a skunk. Lesson learned, take it slowly when crossing under the bridges is Missouri.

Shortly after rolling into Leawood Park, I encountered my first cyclist for the day. I stopped to remove the rain jacket and rain cover just after crossing Mission road, where I was passed by another cyclist. I had to stop at the post office to drop some mail off, and then continued on my way. I caught sight of two more cyclist in Row Park.

As I came up to Metcalf, I decided to treat myself with a cup of coffee and a doughnut (KK). I had toyed with the idea a couple of times, but had not followed through. I hope this does not become a habit, but the doughnuts were oh so good coming straight off the line.

I finished off the doughnut and finished the ride to work with out much more to write about.

Let's see how the ride home is. 'Till later.
