Wet road, wet trail, but I'm dry

I looked at the forecast last night, and from just after midnight to 5am it showed partly cloudy. 5am, showers(100% chance). I made the comment to my wife, "I am starting to get tired of riding in the rain." Her response was typical: "Well don't ride." She knows me better than that, I rode through the tornado warning, I rode when it was pouring, heck I even rode when the Indian Creek was at flood stage cutting off part of the trail. I would ride.

So I get around this morning, and find that there was no rain. Actually, I don't think it had rained since late last night. The roads were wet, the trail and leaves wet, but there was no rain. This I like, or so I thought. One thing about conditions like this, rained during the hours prior to my ride, and subsequently stopped, All of the trail's puddle are now settling out. This leaves the trail a greasy mess at places. I found this out by accident coming around the curve going under State Line road. The front tire slipped out just enough to get my attention, and startle me. From that point on, I rode with a little more reserve, managing to make it to work without incident.

Side note: There seems to be a theme appearing for my commute. Instead of seeing a variety of wildlife, it seems that I am only allowed one species per ride. And this morning rabbits were the creature of choice. Easily saw 2 dozen of the critters this morning.
