A shower of Lighting bugs

Seems that the days are getting short, not something I'm liking. During mid summer, I don't have to much difficulty getting out of bed at 5:30 am as the sun is usually already on the horizon. This morning it was dark. Hard to get one's self motivated when all I want to do is sleep. Some how around 5:45 I managed to get out of bed, and was in the truck by 6am. An uneventful drive to the trucks parking spot allowed me to leave the truck this morning at 6 dark 20.

I have been running with a 3 led head light by Serfas, but noticed last week that one of the leds has quit working. So I have ordered a new light that should arrive at home today. I also have a twofish lockblock on order to attach the light to the bike with. This seam to be a good combination for a decent headlight.

After this mornings ride, I'm ready for a bit more light. The tree lined areas are dark enough that I can't see the trail for more than a couple feet in front of me.

Other than the lack of light in the darker sections of the trail, this mornings commute was really nice. Temps in the upper 60's, not much wind to speak of which leads me to the title of the post. About 2 miles into the ride, ran into (literally) a swarm of lighting bugs. Them little buggers hurt when you hit them doing 20 mph. I looked at my legs after fighting my way though and they were a glowing. Nothing a good shower will not fix.

As I continue on my route, I get to the area that they are excavating to help prevent future flooding in the Leawood area. Seems that they have made some progress this weekend. It has been entertaining seeing all of the work that has been done, and anticipating what's to come next. Sooner or later they will start working on the West section of the creek, and the trail will be unpassable : ( Until then, it is the fastest way to get to the north side of i- 435.

Well that was about it for this morning. Now waiting out the 8 hours before my next chance at getting my bike fix.

By the way, the weather tomorrow could be interesting, high of the the upper 60's, with rain chances.

cheers.
